Meet Alyssa Granlund, Worth Clark’s New Managing Broker in Minnesota!
We are thrilled to introduce Alyssa Granlund as the new Managing Broker in our Minnesota markets! She’s been in the real estate industry for over 33 years and has been a powerful force in the business. Alyssa has managed a large real estate office, and has been a wonderful resource to newer agents as a trainer, mentor, and coach. Her passion to help agents reach their goals is inspiring, and we are so excited to have her on board. Get to know Alyssa better with this short Q&A and learn all about her experience in the industry and what she brings to the table.
Q. In 60 seconds or less, who is Alyssa Granlund?!
I have worked in the real estate industry for the last 33 years as an individual agent, in a partnership, Managing Broker of a large real estate office, trainer, mentor, and coach. I am a native Minnesotan. My husband Craig and I have four daughters, three granddaughters, and two Borzoi dogs. I have always been a creative person that likes to try new things. I was a professional singer early in life but went into real estate when I had kids so I could be home more. I love music, art, cooking, and baking, decorating sugar cookies, making pottery, playing guitar, writing books, and always learning new things.
Q: What inspired you to start your real estate career?
Both my parents, in-laws, and husband at the time were real estate agents. It seemed like a natural fit for me to follow in their footsteps. It has been the perfect career for me and has offered me lots of opportunities for growth.
Q: What was that moment or time period you knew you had a passion for helping clients achieve their goals?
The most satisfying times in my career have been helping other agents succeed. I had buyer agents on my team starting in 1993 and loved helping them to find success in the business.
Q: What is the best real estate advice you’ve read or received?
Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich changed my life. “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” I also love Brian Tracy and Earl Nightingale. Oldies but they are all relevant today. One of my early mentors told me “We are not in the business of selling houses, our job is to prospect.” Following this advice has served me well.
Q: What are 2-3 nuances of the Minnesota real estate market(s)?
Schools and educational focus are strong in Minnesota and one of the draws to our market. We have extreme seasonal changes so our homes are built very solid. Sometimes the cold makes people afraid to move here but once someone has lived here and experienced the culture and community they rarely leave and if they do many times they end up moving back. Minnesota nice is a real thing. Yes, some of us talk like the characters in the movie Fargo. You Betcha.
Q: New Realtors® often struggle with lead generation, what would your advice be to a brand new agent in building their business?
It is important to have 4-5 areas of focus and a plan to bring in leads. Then keep your head down, work on those areas consistently, and don’t worry about what others are doing.
Q: Although Worth Clark Realty has established itself in many markets, making a switch to a brokerage new to your market can be stressful and there can be many unknowns. What first attracted you to Worth Clark?
I have always worked very independently. I was attracted to the flexibility to do things my way and the 100% commission plan. This allows me to tailor my services to fit my client’s needs in a way I feel comfortable. There was no hype or pressure to join Worth Clark which I appreciated. Everyone I spoke with as was exploring the opportunity was super nice and down to earth.
Q: Has the transition from one brokerage to another been stress-free?
The onboarding process is very complete. If you follow the steps day by day, it is pretty stress-free.
Q: What would you tell agents in your area who are considering joining Worth Clark?
If you like to work independently and on your own terms, this could be for you. All of the services you are used to from traditional brokerages are here but you can do things your way. After spending 33 years at a wonderful brokerage I was nervous to make a move but the support and commission schedule are worth it for me and I am glad I did it.
Q: What are you most excited about in leading Minnesota’s market as Worth Clark’s managing broker?
The real estate industry is changing rapidly. We are all working remotely. I feel the Worth Clark Model is the perfect fit for the agent of today. Agents can make more money and still have stellar support from their brokerage. I love to mentor and problem solve and it is fun to offer a new opportunity in the Minnesota market for agents.
