Growing up in an entrepreneurial family in Darien, Illinois ( a western suburb of Chicago ) provided me with a unique perspective about serving others and how being part of others success’ can bring yourself joy and fulfillment — a feeling that is beyond words. Our family business was “Best Custodial Maintenance, Inc”. It was a commercial cleaning business that taught me responsibility, attention to detail, and most importantly a respect for other’s property. The company was in business for 40+ years — a testament to the motto and mindset the business instilled in me: “always do the right thing” and “go over and above” for your customers.
Our family business put me through college where I studied graphic design, marketing, and business psychology. After earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Design from Columbia College, I worked for many Chicago area advertising agencies and corporations. I even was part of a team which developed Amoco Oil Corporation’s first website at the dawn of the world wide web. I continuously stretched my skills and won design awards and publishing honors as a result. I built my own creative agency business and many of my designs are still in use in products and businesses today.
One of my brand marketing customers was a real estate firm that had a brokerage in Florida. The Broker recognized that I would make an excellent agent due to my strong marketing and negotiating skills — and being a self-starter that knows how to push to the finish line. I took him up on the challenge and have zero regrets ever since.
