Can you share a bit about your professional background?

While I was in college with a focus on pre-law and paralegal studies, I worked at Schnucks and did weekend leasing at my apartment complex, strategically to lower my rent on a college kid’s budget. I did an internship with the remarkable Laiderman Law Firm, which focuses on estate planning. I’d intended on going down that route, however, I found myself being offered a full-time role in the apartment leasing office. For a few years, I acted as an assistant manager and learned about all things leasing documentation and property (and people) management. Fast forward a few years, and I found myself meeting with the admirable Bryan Bowles. I impressed him with my passion for the leasing world, and my impeccably formatted, error-free resume showcasing attention to detail.

After obtaining my real estate license in 2017, Bryan felt I was a natural fit for the Compliance role at Worth Clark Realty. He trusted that I would be detailed and had the built-in integrity to not cut any corners. I love what I do and what we’ve built here in the last decade. I am very happy Bryan and I crossed paths back in 2014.

What initially attracted you to Worth Clark Realty?

Worth Clark offered an innovative brand, one that was still unheard of at that time, in the real estate and property management industry. A brokerage for the agents, by the agents. WCR just has such a collaborative feel to it, and I am here for it.

What has been the biggest driving factor in your career and your biggest inspiration?

I think my weird obsession with processes, documentation, and law drives my passion in this industry. There are so many moving parts in a brokerage. We are selling houses, but the HQ team does so many other things to keep things running here internally. Continuing to be a guiding light for agents to remain compliant and efficient is very important to me.

What are some of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?

While accuracy and detail are important, so is progression. Often, if you hyper-focus on something for too long, you’ll never progress. Also, timing is extremely important, both in professional and emotional settings.

What does a typical day look like for you as Head of Compliance and Agent Services?

There are a lot of moving parts on the brokerage operations side of things. I work on market expansion with the Growth Squad team for state filings, real estate firm applications, association setups, etc. I assist the Compliance & Agent Services team with any escalated items, provide the departments with updated procedures, and maintain the brokerage knowledge base and service form versions. I also address any audits that arise and otherwise work with managing brokers when any discrepancies surface within their markets. I love being a long-standing, trusted resource for the agents, the HQ team, and all of the managing brokers.

Can you share a success story where your team made a significant impact on an agent’s experience?

It brings me so much satisfaction seeing the team receive consistent feedback on how helpful and friendly the agents found their support experience to be. We’re building everyday, to ensure agents have the support and knowledge they need to empower them to succeed in their business goals. It’s rewarding to see the team building meaningful relationships with WCR agents, and being approachable, available, and real–something many agents indicate that other brokerages aren’t able to offer them.

What advice would you give to agents to ensure they stay ahead of compliance requirements?

Something I say often is, “When in doubt, write it out!” A real estate transaction is such a detailed process. It’s crucial that you provide clear communication and always have anything agreed upon or disclosed–in writing. Also, lean on us here at HQ. We’re here as a resource to WCR agents. If you are unsure of something, reach out.

How does the agent support team work to create a seamless experience for Worth Clark agents?

Our team is dedicated to remaining present during the onboarding process while learning the WCR ropes, and being available when agents need assistance on all things real estate. We are a resource for WCR agents and want to continue providing them with the support needed to elevate their businesses.
