In 100 words or less, describe who you are.
I am a lifelong Chicagoan. I am a dad to three kids, a husband of 24 years, and a real estate agent of 13 years. I am a drummer and a huge baseball fan. I believe that we should leave our space better than we found it. I think people are generally good at heart and want to help each other.
What inspired you to start your real estate career?
My friend and mentor Jayne Alofs. She had been a long-time friend running a very successful practice. Jayne made the offer to get my license and come work with her, and I saw an individual who was able to stay grounded, have a moral compass, and treat people with dignity and respect in an industry that is constantly challenged with having a moral north star.
What was the defining moment you knew you had a passion for helping clients achieve their goals?
I think my first two real estate clients helped shape who I have become as an agent. My first client was a Navy SEAL, who was very specific about what he and his wife were looking for. They had been through a few agents that ignored their wish list. I was the first one that listened to them and found what they were looking for. My second client and her husband were expecting their first child as we were looking for their new home. We found a great place for them and then they invited me to their baby’s christening.
Part of Worth Clark’s mission statement is to help deliver the promise of ownership to our clients and community. How rewarding has this industry been for you, helping so many achieve this dream?
Over my career, I would say the vast majority of my clients have been great to work with and been great partners in helping them find their new home, or selling their current one. It is VERY rewarding to help that person find their first home.
What is the best real estate advice you’ve read or received?
There have been a few really powerful pieces of advice. One such piece of advice is, “Take care of your clients, and the business will follow.” Ask your client what their “why” is, and then listen!
New Realtors® often struggle with lead generation and consistency. What advice would you give to a new agent attempting to build their business?
Take stock of the people who already know, like, and trust you. Ask them for help.
What are you passionate about outside of real estate?
I love spending time with my family either together or one-on-one. Music is one of my many passions. I am a drummer in a three-piece rock band that is the busiest band I’ve ever been in. I am a lifetime baseball fan, so the opportunity to go watch a game is always high on my list. I also really enjoy being connected to my community, whether it is volunteering or some type of public service.
What does Worth Clark Realty do well for its agents?
I think WCR is great because of the simplicity of its model. The communications and tools are great. The back office and agent support team are awesome.
What was the onboarding experience like at Worth Clark Realty? Would you do it again?
It was good. The systems are easy to use and agent support is always very responsive.
What would you tell agents who are considering joining Worth Clark?
I think you should join us because WCR allows you to run your practice and service your clients in the best manner. You as an agent know your clients better than any brokerage does and ultimately your success is built on that relationship.
