A Lifelong Dream Realized
For John Dollarhide, real estate wasn’t a career he stumbled into—it was a calling he finally answered. After years in construction and a major life transition, John obtained his real estate license in 2018 and dove headfirst into the industry. "Real estate is something I always wanted to do,” John said.
By May of 2018, he was a full-time agent, guiding first-time homebuyers and seasoned homeowners alike toward the places they could call home.
Helping Others See What's Possible
At the heart of John's passion is people. He loves showing buyers, especially first-timers, that their dreams are achievable.“Helping first-time buyers realize they can buy a home—that’s a win for me,” John said.
Whether it’s connecting clients with a lender or walking them through the process step by step, John finds joy in making the impossible feel possible.
The Advice That Changed Everything
Starting a new career is never easy, and John admits the early days had their struggles. But one piece of advice kept him grounded: “There’s success in the mundane things we do every day. You just have to stick to it,” he said.
John expressed that persistence is the secret weapon in real estate as well as jumping in fully, not just dipping your toes in.
Finding Freedom and Support at Worth Clark
In 2022, John made a strategic move to Worth Clark Realty. The change was significant—not only in culture, but also financially. “I was saving $18,000 a year by moving to Worth Clark. That’s simple math,” he said.
But even more valuable than the savings? The freedom and guaranteed support. “If I want to sell one house or 500, they support me either way,” John said. "I can text my broker anytime and always feel like I have a team behind me.”
Thriving Through Community
For John, business success is deeply tied to community involvement. Purchased leads didn’t yield the results he wanted, but authentic relationships did. “If you only have a few friends, get out and meet more people,” he said.
That philosophy drives his involvement in local organizations. John is the incoming President of the Rotary Club in Mineola, TX, and has been active in Rotary for the past two years. “If you’re going to serve, you have to be where the people are,” John said.
He’s also working to launch a local Toastmasters chapter in Wood County and stays involved with programs at his church alongside his wife.
Real Estate Is Life—But There’s a Beach Involved
Even when he's off the clock, John never really turns off the real estate mindset. His favorite escape? A beach, a laptop, and a few property comps. “I live real estate 30 hours a day, eight days a week,” he said.
From quick trips to Galveston, TX, to planned getaways in Destin, FL, John seamlessly blends lifestyle and business, always open to making new connections, regardless of the setting.
Jump In—It’s Worth It
To those considering a career in real estate, John doesn’t mince words: “If you’ve ever thought about getting into real estate, do it. Don’t just stick your toe in—jump all in.”
